I am praying that they will grow in their relationship with Him, trusting in Him, and having minds stayed on Him, and so experience the peace that this world cannot give. I am praying for the gift of peace from the Lord.
As the Faith Chapter shows, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for. So I’m praying for those who are struggling with the broken, fallen creation – whether health issues, relationship struggles, their own battles within. God offers real peace of mind to those who focus on Him and trust in Him. Only in relationship to our Savior can we know the peace which passes anything this broken world can offer. Our lives are marked by the struggle with the fallen creation and fallen creatures. Rather, the one in perfect peace faces and endures the hardships of life with the confidence that the Lord is present and His will is ultimately what will come about. It doesn’t mean that all is going well in our lives. To be in perfect peace is to be within the will of God, and receiving the blessings of that relationship. In includes wholeness and health with oneself and in relationship with others, the creation, and the Creator.
In verse 12, the psalmist again credits the Lord as being the source of peace.īiblical peace, shalom, is far more than peace of mind and absence of conflict. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Peace comes through trusting in the Lord and having a mind that acknowledges His ways.
What struck me in these chapters is 26:3.
